The purpose of this project, funded by KPMG, is to develop and build consensus for a new model of a successful town; one that is sustainable for the next fifty years in the face of economic, demographic and technological change. Demos and KPMG are working with citizens and businesses in different types of towns to co-design deliverable policy changes that could improve their prospects. The research will produce recommendations to national and sub-national governments for how to invest to help build thriving ’Future Towns’. Methods include conversation mapping and research using Polis, an online tool which gathers open ended feedback at scale, allows participants to engage with each other’s responses, and visualises their interactions.
