Henry is a research intern working in the Social Policy department. Graduating this year with a BSc in Social Policy from the University of Bristol, he is particularly interested in integration and education. During his final year Henry’s dissertation explored the proposed expansion of grammar schools to narrow the educational attainment gap, focusing on the underachievement and underrepresentation of white, working class boys. This involved comparison of selective and non-selective education systems using PISA and Progress 8 data from the OECD and DfE.
In 2015, Henry studied in Linkoping in Sweden as part of the Erasmus exchange programme and has taken part in youth leadership expeditions with Raleigh International, working on natural resource management and community projects in Costa Rica and Tanzania. This involved the preservation of biodiversity hotpots and the construction of an early childhood development centre. Henry hopes to combine working with think tanks and local government following his time at Demos.
