Gafar is an intern at Demos, working in the Citizenship programme. He recently completed his undergraduate degree in Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham. Gafar has an interest in counter-terrorism, countering violent extremism and radicalisation. His dissertation research focused on how states can use international relations theory to help understand and respond to lonewolf terrorism.
Whilst at University, Gafar completed a research project on gender-based hate crime taking place on university campuses and a project with Nottingham City Council that looked at introducing pilot surveys to identify key individuals in schools to safeguard victims of Domestic Abuse. Gafar is also a contributor to online political news site, Reaction.
