Caroline Slocock is the Director of the think tank, Civil Exchange, and is a co-founder of the cross-sectoral network, A Better Way, for people who are seeking to improve public services, build community and create a fairer society. She advised Gordon Brown as Chancellor on the reform of public services as a senior Treasury civil servant, and worked with the Early Action Task Force between 2010 and 2021 devising ways of making prevention not just common sense but common practice. She was Private Secretary (Home Affairs) at No 10 to Margaret Thatcher and John Major.
