Online Harms and a thriving democracy
On 12th February, the Government issued their initial response to the consultation on the Online Harms White Paper which examined how to regulate tech companies to reduce ‘Online Harms’.
The Government is seeking to establish a legal Duty of Care for reducing the risk of harms to their users and “is minded” to appoint Ofcom as the regulator with responsibility to oversee tech companies’ compliance.
Demos joined six organisations on 26th February in responding to the Government’s initial consultation response to the Online Harms White Paper.
