Peter Hyman
Headteacher and Former Advisor to Tony Blair and Keir Starmer
Peter Hyman is a political strategist, educationalist, social entrepreneur and writer.
He is currently working on a project to counter right-wing populism as well as writing a Substack, Changing the Story. He was senior advisor to Sir Keir Starmer and a key figure in Labour’s 2024 landslide General Election victory in the UK.
Peter worked for Sir Tony Blair for nine years including six years in 10 Downing Street, as political strategist, speechwriter, and Head of the Prime Minister’s Strategic Communications Unit. He played a key part in the landslide election victories in the UK in 1997 and 2001.
Peter moved from politics to education, working first as a teaching assistant, then training as a history teacher before becoming headteacher and co-founder of a pioneering 4 to 18 state school in East London, School 21.
He became Co-CEO of a group of schools and co-founded – designed and built – a new primary school, School 360. He co-founded Voice 21, a charity which now works in more than 1000 schools across England, developing oracy – speaking skills – in young people.
