Healthy food and public choice: towards a new approach

Measures aimed at encouraging healthier food choices face the challenge of consumer preferences for some foods which are unhealthy when eaten frequently. Demos is looking at the opportunities to make it easier for consumers to make healthier choices about what they eat, without necessarily abandoning the products they like. We are engaging directly with consumers and experts to explore options from regulation and taxation to labelling and public information campaigns, to provide recommendations to government, industry and regulators on the way forward. Methods include a literature review and opinion poll.
