Why localism is more important than ever
In a country polarised not only by Left and Right, but also Leave and Remain, few agendas are able to inspire consensus. Localism, however, might be one of them. With the events of the past few months front and centre in the mind, wouldn’t now be a good time to discuss the constitutional reform and the move towards more efficient, effective and inclusive governance?
Shaping the next steps of this agenda is more important than ever – join Demos and the Effective Governance Initiative at the Labour Party Conference to discuss if localism were to be the first step in consensus post-Brexit, what should it look like?
Speakers include:
- Polly Mackenzie – Chief Executive, Demos
- Nick Tyrone – Chief Executive, Effective Governance Initiative
- Cllr Judith Blake CBE – Leader of Leeds City Council
- Lord Beecham – House of Lords Shadow Spokesperson, Communities and Local Government
