Demos is hosting a high-level workshop in Brussels on 14-15 November, as part of ‘ pan-European research project on “The Rise of a Culture and Politics of Fear in the European Union”.
This workshop will bring together Europe’s leading thinkers on social, economic and political change, to debate and explore political and policy responses to the national and EU-wide trends identified within the project’s first phase – including discussions on public policy, populism and political parties, social cohesion, identity and the media.
The workshop will begin with presentations from Demos and its five research partners in Germany, France, Spain, Sweden and Poland on their national case studies, as well as exclusive new polling that has been undertaken by YouGov to support qualitative analysis. The second session will involve structured discussions about how the EU, national governments and civil society can meet the priority challenges identified within each country.
Demos will also host a drinks reception and dinner for participants on the evening of 14 November. A budget is available to cover transport and accommodation costs to support the attendance of those based outside of Brussels.
