The Economic Dimension of Postliberalism

Join us at the second event in the Postliberalism & One Nation Economics lecture series. This lecture will be given by John Kay, one of Britain’s leading economists and John Mills and Paul Ormerod will respond.

This lecture, by leading economist John Kay, will focus on the economic dimension of post liberalism. As John points out in his book, The Truth About Markets, markets are embedded in national, social institutions that place significant limits on globalisation. Moreover, the main risks in life are handled not generally by markets but by families, communities and the state.

There will be short responses to the lecture from John Mills and Paul Ormerod.

This is the second lecture in the series following David Goodhart’s essay A Postliberal Future? which featured in the first issue of Demos Quarterly earlier this year. The first was given by Geoff Mulgan in March.

The event will take place on Wednesday 18th June at 6.30pm in Central London. A short drinks reception will follow the lecture.
