Scouting and Schools

This roundtable discussion will inform a wider research project that Demos is currently conducting into the attitudes towards ‘non-formal education’ (sport, arts, debating, uniformed organisations etc) taking place within schools and the role it can play in developing character skills, using Scouting and schools as the chief case study.

The aim of this seminar is to draw on the expertise of people from the education and youth sectors, and their experience of bridging the two. We would like to better understand non-formal learning provision in school and identify any barriers to non-formal approaches taking place in schools, whether due to the attitudes, incentives and cultures of schools and youth organisations, or due to policy and structures.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday 21st April at 6.00-7.30pm. The event is invitation-only, but if you are interested in attending please email [email protected] or call 020 7367 6331.
