Masterclass 2: Influencing opposition, influencing this opposition

The role of opposition is fundamentally different from government and with that comes different approaches to political strategy, campaigning tactics and even policy development. Never has this contrast been more marked than with Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party also represents a fundamental break with political and campaigning convention. Alan Lockey spent six years in Parliament working for Tristram Hunt, pre and post Corbyn, and will use this experience to provide an overview of how to influence what could be the next Labour Government. He will cover:

  • The nature of opposition
  • The role of Political Advisers and Parliamentary Researchers
  • Manifestos and pre-election preparations
  • Understanding and influencing the Labour Party
  • Understanding and influencing this Labour Party – what’s changed.

This Masterclass will be delivered by Alan Lockey, Head of Modern Economy
