Harnessing Social Media Reaction to Emergency Incidents

This launch, hosted by the Association of Train Operating Companies, will present the findings of a new Demos research project, which has explored the potential for emerging technology to automatically collect, analyse and respond to the public’s social media messages after major transport accidents.

The study has particularly focused on significant train disruptions and crashes with large numbers of fatalities and injuries, with pioneering new Demos analysis identifying the best means for operators to make sense of the deluge of social media activity likely to follow such incidents.
