Game Changing Tweets: The Role of Social Media in the 2016 London Mayoral Election

With less than a month to go until the 2016 London Mayoral Election, Centre for London and the Centre for Analysis of Social Media (CASM) at Demos think tank are teaming up to look at how the election is playing out on social media, adding new insight into how the candidates are performing.

Since February we have been looking to collect every tweet sent to and from every candidate and subjecting these to a wide range of analyses each week.

Join us on 4 May when we’ll be analysing the key moments of the election, looking into the issues which have been most talked about and comparing Zac and Sadiq’s campaigns.

The event will begin with a presentation of our analysis, followed by responses from an expert panel and a Q&A session. Invited panelists include:

Carl Miller, Research Director, Centre for Analysis of Social Media (CASM) at Demos think tank
Barbara Speed, Staff Writer, CityMetric
Kat Hanna, Research Manager, Centre for London
Ben Page, Chief Executive, Ipsos MORI

Doors will open at 6.30pm. Discussion at 7pm, followed by drinks from 8 – 9pm.

We are pleased to be holding this event in The Urban Innovation Centre with the support of venue partner Future Cities Catapult. The address of the venue is 1 Sekforde Street, London, EC1R 0BE.
