Demos is a highly respected cross-party think tank with a unique approach to making policy to solve our long-term problems. Building on nearly 30 years of creativity, ideas and impact, Demos is working to shape a more collaborative democracy in the United Kingdom and beyond, in which power is devolved, citizens participate in policy-making, and together as a nation we find answers to the challenges of our century.
Drawing in ideas and inspiration from across the political spectrum, Demos advocates for a different style of politics, built on stronger relationships between people and those in power, and resulting in a more humble and relational way of making policy. We do this because we believe that this will result in more trust in democracy, a fairer economy, stronger communities and better value for money.
As part of this, Demos champions and delivers participative policy processes on the biggest issues of the day. We host a Public Participation Lab, the home of a range of participation technologies that enable citizens to be involved in decision-making at all levels of government. We also host CASM, our technology hub, where we are making the case for a new approach to governing the internet as part of our democratic, economic and cultural infrastructure.
We are now seeking a talented new Director of Research and Policy to help us to build on these ambitions, deepening our evidence and strengthening our impact. You will lead our multidisciplinary research team across our diverse portfolio of projects. You will shape our policy agenda, champion our participatory tech tools and bring in funding for a range of new programmes to help build a more collaborative democracy.
The role is a significant leadership position, requiring a visionary leader who shares our values and who can engage, inspire and influence at all levels. You will work with the CEO and Chair to create a clear vision, harnessing the ideas and talents of our committed staff.
With an established network across the political spectrum and strong relationship-building skills, you will take responsibility as a member of the senior leadership team, helping us embed our strategy across all our work so we can deliver a step change in impact.
Wherever you are now, if you want to make a real and tangible impact on politics and the way policy making works, we would be keen to hear from you.
