Tony is Executive Director of the Incorporated Association of Registered Teachers of Victoria (IARTV) and Director of the Centre for Strategic Educational Thinking (CSET), Melbourne.


Tony is Senior Fellow, Centre For Post Compulsory and Life Long Learning and Senior Fellow for the Centre for Applied Educational Research, Faculty of Education, The University of Melbourne.

Tony is also President of the Australian Curriculum Studies Association; Governing Council Member, National College for School Leadership, UK; Consultant Advisor, Department for Education and Skills, and Innovation Unit, UK; OECD Senior Consultant, Schooling for Tomorrow Project; DEMOS International Associate; Visiting Fellow, London Leadership Centre; and Board Member of the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI).

Tony is a member of the Board of Directors of the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER); an Advisory Board Member of The Asia Education Foundation; a Committee Member of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA); a Board Member of the University of Melbourne Faculty of Education; and a Governing Body Member of two Prep to Year 12 Melbourne Schools.

Tony is a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators (ACE); a Fellow of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL); a Fellow of the Victorian Division of the Institute of Public Administration (IPAA), Australia; and the 2006 College Medalist of the Australian College of Educators.

Tony’s consultancy work at school, State, national and international levels focuses on strategic thinking and facilitation for Government bodies, education agencies, think tanks, and school boards and leadership teams.  His policy, research, training and development work encompasses the areas of school and system leadership,  improvement and innovation; teacher professionalism; and curriculum, assessment and certification.
