Nadia is a part-time research intern at Demos
With a background in user centred design and a deep interest in research, I joined Demos as a part-time research intern at the beginning of March 2009. Prior to this I graduated with a masters’ in design from the Design Academy Eindhoven in The Netherlands.
Since joining Demos I have predominantly been involved in a social housing project, commissioned by a leading Housing Association, which aims to establish the causes of social and economic exclusion amongst its residents. Through a series of interviews with frontline staff and a variety of residents, the project also seeks to create an understanding of the daily experiences and challenges faced by the residents.
My time at Demos has given me the opportunity to see how my approach could be applied to different areas of the public sector and to realise how user insights could be translated into design opportunities that tackle emerging social issues.
