It was a full house at the Institute of Contemporary Arts last Wednesday as Demos launched our report on parenting, Building Character.  Chaired by writer and commentator, Jenni Russel, the panel got stuck into asking what good character is and what promoting character development can mean for social mobility.

Stephen Scott (National Academy for Parenting Practitioners), Maria Miller MP (Conservative Shadow Secretary for the Family), Jenni Russell (writer and commentator), Richard Reeves (Director of Demos) and Jen Lexmond (Researcher at Demos and principal author of Building Character).

Panelists faced some challenging questions from the audience...

... And an endorsement from the head of the Millennium Cohort Study.

I have been looking around the web for the study that backs up Prof. Scott's remarks. His comments were evidently off the cuff, and not based on any particularly new research. However, the media reported this as if there were some brand new study we should all know about. If I'm mistaken and there is some brand new study, Can anyone at Demos post a link to the actual study? thanks!
