Culture, Democracy and You
by Samuel Jones
The Guardian's Charlotte Higgins has written an article on John's new pamphlet Cultural Value and the Crisis of Legitimacy, which the other Sam mentioned below. In it, she draws on the comment in the pamphlet that more of our politicians 'should be seen at performances, express their preferences, and talk to the media about their enthusiasms'.
As we here at Demos gear up for the launch, and the pamphlet moves from the boxes behind me and into the public realm, I draw attention to another of the points that the article picks up: that more of our cultural institutions and leaders use methods like blogs to 'encourage audience involvement and critical response'.
Tomorrow, we'll put the pamphlet on the website and do just that ...
