On the day Charlton Heston steps down from the top job at the National Rifle Association in the US, the firearms amnesty comes to an end in the UK. Weapons handed in included a rocket launcher in south Wales.

Glad to see that ol' Charlton is calling it a day. Did anyone see that classic Dennis Pennis sketch back in the mid-90s where he cornered Heston at a book signing and asked him: 'Do you like Cezanne, Charlton?...Did you know that in Britain we call a policeman a 'bobby', Charlton?' (Read it through a few times, and you'll get it...)
ps. does anyone else think that it would make a fabulous (and fabulously bad taste) Ali G sketch for him to walk into a police station in Staines saying he wants to hand his guns in and hand over a spud gun? Should I give up my day job now?!!
