I hate to be cynical...but I don't see this catching on.

Football is of course a team sport, but having a rotation policy for who gets to be chosen as team captain - far from encouraging players to stretch themselves that extra bit - is likely to cause an unhealthy degree of competitiveness.

The likelihood is that one or two players will always get 'elected' to be captain - thus demonstrating that the changing room is the one place where democratic expression is least likley to be accepted/tolerated.

Wow - I have also forgotten to mention that one thing all informed football fans know...whatever they choose to do, West Brom are doomed.
